Magnets Available to Good Homes

Magnets available to good homes.

The Conradi group at Washington U in Saint Louis MO has done some consolidating, so we have 3 magnets to give to good homes. They all work perfectly as of Dec 2007 and will be de-commissioned shortly.

  1. Oxford 200 MHz, 4.7 Tesla, 98 mm bore. Has room-T shims and RT-shim power supply. Was re-O-ringed a year ago. We chose to run at 186.6 MHz, never tried at 200. Uses 40 L of LN2 every 7 days and 20-22 liters of LHe every 28 days, including transfer loss. This is the D-15000 cryostat, the older Oxford design. With transfer tube. Has manuals.
  2. Oxford 8.0 Tesla, 340 MHz, 54 mm bore. This was removed from its Oxford cryostat and put into a Kadel cryostat 20 years ago. It looks similar to the magnets made by Chemagnetics, which are also in Kadel cryostats. Has manuals, with transfer tube. It uses 40 liters of LN2 every 7 days and 40-45 liters of LHe every 11 weeks, including transfer loss.
  3. 12-inch electromagnet from Varian, with 3-inch gap. Max field is 1.1 Tesla. Includes Varian power supply with selectable field regulation (Hall probe, Fieldial) or current regulation. Will include its closed loop heat exchanger, if you want (this is a closed loop that ejects the heat ultimately to the building water, raw or chilled). If you like, a 9-ich diameter, 1.75-inch gap Varian smaller electromagnet can probably be included.
